Got Stress???

3 Quick Ways to Prevent or Reduce Stress

1. SLEEP

Oh, yeah? Right! Sleeping 7-8 hours a night makes an amazing difference in your health! It’s worth doing! At your first conversation with our clinic’s nurse, your typical amount of sleep each night will be at the top of her list. We know that our lifestyle choices have health effects. Sleep really makes a huge difference. The Cleveland Clinic studied the effect of lack of sleep, and here’s what they found:

“Some of the most serious potential problems associated with chronic sleep deprivation are high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure or stroke. Other potential problems include obesity, depression, impairment in immunity and lower sex drive. Chronic sleep deprivation can even affect your appearance.”(Our reaction to this? “Oh No!”) https://health.clevelandclinic.org/happens-body-dont-get-enough-sleep/

WOW!  Turn off the TV and your phone, and “hit the sack!”

2. EAT THE RIGHT FUEL!

Yes, you really can reduce stress by eating foods that have higher levels of serotonin – like oatmeal, whole grain breads and pasta, and, interestingly, oranges! Check out this slideshow from WebMD that describes foods that can calm stress!

3. GET SOME SUN! YES!

When you get out in the sun, your body absorbs Vitamin D! Vitamin D is great! It reduces inflammation and guards against some infections. The easiest way to get Vitamin D is to get outside and let the sun shine on your arms and face. Just be aware of the sun intensity, and use sunscreen after about 15-20 minutes. Your emotional state will probably benefit too!
